A lot of people love Historical Fiction. You might think the words are a contradiction! No wonder it's a popular genre. You can write about a true life person from history, and make up your own version of their life. You can spin it into any kind of story you want. Thus, the fiction! And since most people prefer novels to academic reading, it's just right for them. Thus the Historical "Novel."
For my fourth novel, The Adventures of John Dunn, (working title) I will keep Dunn's achievements and the historical events accurate. It's what makes him a great source for a story. But I will need to forge a ficticious plot and subplots so as to make my novel a great read. Hey, I want people to buy it after all. Can't wait to get this research done and get on with the writing!
